Anu Gupta Desai, M.D.

Dr. Anu Gupta Desai is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. She specializes in anterior segment eye surgery, including laser cataract surgeryadvanced technology intraocular lenses, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. She also offers a robust dry eye program, the first of its kind in Acadiana. Her mission is to provide personalized, compassionate care that blends the latest medical advances with a deep commitment to her patients’ well-being.

Since founding Desai Eye Care in 2016, Dr. Desai has continued the legacy of excellence established by Dr. Harold LeDoux, from whom she purchased the practice. Under her leadership, Desai Eye Care has embraced cutting-edge technology and a patient-first philosophy, ensuring that every individual receives exceptional care tailored to their unique needs.

Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Dr. Desai is proud to serve the community she has always called home. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and being recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of the College of Sciences.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she was honored with the Luis Perez Ophthalmology Award for academic excellence and dedication to her field.

Dr. Desai went on to complete her residency in Ophthalmology at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois, followed by a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Columbia University in New York City. Her advanced training allows her to manage complex eye conditions and deliver state-of-the-art surgical outcomes.

After completing her fellowship, Dr. Desai practiced at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago before returning home to Lafayette with her family in 2015. Today, she welcomes both new and established patients, continuing her lifelong commitment to improving vision and enriching lives through exceptional eye care.

A proud mother of three, Dr. Desai’s mission extends beyond the clinic. She believes in leading by example—nurturing her family, serving her patients, and giving back to the community that helped shape her. Through her work and volunteer efforts, she strives to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of the people of Acadiana.

Emily Prouet, M.D.

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Emily Prouet was born and raised in Farmerville, Louisiana. She graduated from Tulane University in the top of 10 of her class. She went on to attend Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious medical Honor Society.

After receiving her MD, she and her husband, Dr. Philip Prouet, moved to Memphis, TN where she completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Hamilton Eye Institute. After residency, she practiced at the VA in Memphis and also served as an Assistant Professor with the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Prouet is pleased to return to Louisiana and join Dr. Desai in serving the great people of Acadiana.

Patrick Keating, M.D.

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Keating is a fully Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology with the LSU New Orleans Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Keating previously practiced at Azar Eye Clinic in Lafayette. He is currently teaching surgery to ophthalmology residents at University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette.

Dr. Keating holds an expertise in comprehensive ophthalmology and eye surgery with an emphasis on bladeless all-laser cataract surgery, all-laser LASIK surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and medical retina evaluation.

Dr. Keating is the inventor and co-founder of the SightScholar electronic eye chart, an all-in-one system used to asses visual acuity and educate patients on various eye conditions and their treatment options.

Dr. Keating prides himself in providing personalized and individualized care to his patients and he is continually studying and researching the newest and most advanced treatment options in order to provide the best visual outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Keating was raised in Opelousas and attended high school at Opelousas Catholic. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University, where he graduated Cum Laude in 2006. Furthering his education, he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from the Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport in 2011.

After obtaining his medical degree he completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University, where he received numerous honors including being named chief resident.

Dr. Keating is fully certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. The American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. Founded in 1916, the ABO was the first American board established to certify medical specialists and is one of 24 specialty boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
